Reading Goals

I'm taking a page out of my friend's book—thanks Amy! Have you noticed how I still ideas from your family members?—and make some reading goals. As I write this I'm not really sure where to start, so I guess I'll begin with those things I didn't accomplish last year (guilty face).
  1. Read Les Miserables – Yes, I started, then I got distracted with small things like school and tragedy. This year I'm checking it off my list.
  2. Read one classic a month – This excludes the aforementioned classic. Please let me know if you have any ideas:
    1. The Bell Jar
    2. The Catcher in the Rye
    3. Fahrenheit 451 (again)
    4. Slaughter House Five
    5. Catch 22
    6. How to Kill a Mockingbird
    7. North and South
  3. Finish the series I'm reading – I want to say ALL of them, but I should probably be realistic. Here are the ones I'm thinking of:
    1. Matched series by Ally Condie
    2. Need series by Carrie Jones
    3. Halo series by Alexandra Adornetto
    4. Fallen series by Lauren Kate
    5. Meridian series by Amber Kizer
    6. The Giver series by Lois Lowry
    7. Wings series by Aprilynne Pike
    8. Deadly Little Secrets series by Laurie Faria Stolarz
    9. Last Roundup series by Roddy Doyle
    10. Robert Langdon series by Dan Brown
    11. Darkness Rising series by Kelley Armstrong
    12. Austenland series by Shannon Hale
  4. Read more non-fiction – I read In Defense of Food last year and I really enjoyed it. Any ideas?
  5. Read some more books by my favorite authors – I'm thinking Jennifer Echols, Maria V Snyder, Maggie Stiefvater, Lesley Livingston, and Meg Cabot.
  6. Read books that some of my favorite movies were based on — The Hobbit, The Book Thief, Cloud Atlas (though I didn't actually watch the movie), The Help.
  7. Read more historical fiction — Let me know which ones you suggest. I believe I heard something about Julianne Donaldson.
  8. Read more regular fiction — not sure exactly what. I think In the Garden of the Beasts.
  9. And start some new series that I've heard about:
    1. Tiger's Curse series by Colleen Houck
    2. Divergent series by Veronica Roth
    3. Attolia series by Megan Whalen Turner
I refer the right to add onto this list over time. If there are any other books I absolutely must read, let me know!

  1. Feel free to steal ideas from me anytime. You are ambitious! One classic a month? That's awesome. I definitely recommend East of Eden if you haven't read it already.

I don't know that I'd label Julianne Donaldson's books as historical fiction. They are set during the Regency period, but they're mainly just fun romances.

I still need to post my reading goals. I have them all written down, just not organized yet.
